Backyard Fossils
Have you ever been on an adventure and found a rock with a weird imprint on it? What is that imprint? Join CMOST staff as we discover what those fossils are, what types you can find here in New York State and particularly in your own backyard! After learning about fossils, we will make our own fossils to take home.

BKFK Brainstorm Challenge - Balancing Bob
Participants will create balancing figures to explore the concepts of counter balance, gravity, and lever arms. Ages 8+ (Free for CMOST Members, $2.00 Non-members. Pre-registration is required. Session is limited to 20 participants.)

Stream Safari
Healthy streams are full of life. Join us on a Stream Safari and discover some truly amazing animals, like Water Pennies, Caddisflies, Dragonflies and more! Steam animals come in many shapes and sizes, but they have one thing in common; do you know what that is? Plan to get wet and have fun exploring the world of the stream. Ages 7+ (Pre-registration is required. Free for CMOST members, $2.00 for Non-Members.)

Salty Solutions and Sweet Success
Join CMOST Staff as we experiment with solutions! Answer questions such as which item will dissolve faster, which solution is colder and which will dissolve faster! Age 6+ (Pre-registration is required. Free for CMOST members, $2.00 for Non-Members.)

BKFK Brainstorm Challenge - Balloon Cars
Participants will work together in teams to design, build, test and improve cars powered by a single balloon. The challenge is to get their car to travel as far as possible with one balloon fill of air. Ages 8+ (Free for CMOST Members, $2.00 Non-members. Pre-registration is required.)

BKFK Brainstorm Challenge - Film Canister Rockets
Kids will experiment with a different kind of rocket. They devise strategies to launch their rockets as far as possible and conduct several experiments. Ages 5+ (Free for CMOST Members, $2.00 Non-members. Pre-registration is required.)

BKFK Brainstorm Challenge - Jet Boats
The challenge is to make a boat powered by a single balloon. Participants will work with common household materials to create a cardboard boat that goes the distance. Ages 8+ (Free for CMOST Members, $2.00 Non-members. Pre-registration is required.)

BKFK Brainstorm Challenge - Pirate Ships of the Caribbean
Join CMOST staff to construct a miniature pirate ship of your own. We will work together to create ships out of recycled materials. Then stick around and test your ship for static buoyancy, dynamic buoyancy, and sailing ability. Ages 8+ (Free for CMOST Members, $2.00 Non-members. Pre-registration is required.)

BKFK Brainstorm Challenge - Kites
This BKFK session serves as inspiration for kids to thinking about kites and flying. Participants will work together with CMOST staff to make a kite. While doing so, weíll learn a little about factors such as lift & drag that make the kite fly! Ages 7+ (Free for CMOST Members, $2.00 Non-members. Pre-registration is required.)

Have you ever dreamt of creating your own super hero? Hereís your chance to make your dream come true! Participants will work to create a super hero concept and then make a climbing guy that can climb to the top of the museum! Ages 6+ (Free for CMOST Members, $2.00 Non-members. Diaper Science
Have you ever wondered why diapers are effective in keeping babies dry? Does it have to do with their bulk or their cotton padding? Actually it has to do with science! Come and explore the polymers that keep babies dry and see what they can really do! (Ages 8+, Free for CMOST Members, $2.00 for Non-Members. Pre-registration is required.)

BKFK Brainstorm Challenge - Catapults
Participants will work in teams to create a complex machine simply. They will create catapults using rubber bands to power the throwing arm. Ages 8+ (Free for CMOST Members, $2.00 Non-members. Pre-registration is required.)
